🧠ROLE OF BLOCKCHAIN IN NATIONAL SECURITY

Day: 09 | Time: 16:10:16 The Committee on Armed Services of the United States House of Representatives has included significant provisions in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for 2025 to explore the role of blockchain technology in national security and defense applications. The bill has been sent to the House for consideration, and the Senate Armed Services Committee advanced it to the Senate on July 9. The bill calls for an assessment of the potential of blockchain technology for defense and national security, with a particular focus on supply chain management. Additionally, the Department of Defense has been tasked with investigating the use cases of blockchain for national security objectives, including supply chain management and cybersecurity. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) had already explored blockchain applications, concluding a contract in 2024 with blockchain startup Constellation to enhance backend system cybersecurity and secure data transmission. Furthermore, the Department of Defense may soon consider the use of Bitcoin as part of its strategic initiatives for national security. The Senate Armed Services Committee has also directed an inquiry into the use cases of blockchain for national security, reflecting a broader government interest in utilizing blockchain technology for defense and cybersecurity purposes.
